Junior High Cheerleaders Shine at USM Cheer Camp
· Tuesday, August 4, 2026

This week, the Columbia Academy Junior High Cheerleaders traveled to the University of Southern Mississippi for cheer camp, and they returned with quite a story to tell. The girls worked hard each day, building new skills and growing closer as a team.
Their resilience was put to the test on the final day when two team members were unable to perform. Rather than let that setback slow them down, the rest of the squad stepped up, adjusted, and helped the team place 3rd in the Sprint Routine and 1st in the Camp Routine.
Even more meaningful, the team was awarded the USM Cheer Spirit Stick, a special honor given to just one team out of the twenty in attendance. The award recognizes the group that best displayed grit, hard work, and resilience throughout camp.
Individually, Madi Berard and Kinsley Breeland were both selected as All Americans. Kinsley was also chosen by UCA staff to receive the “Pin It Forward” award, recognizing her outstanding leadership among her teammates.
The team also earned the coveted Gold ribbon during Camp Routine evaluations, along with a Spirit Stick each day of camp.
We are so proud of these young ladies for the way they represented Columbia Academy this week, both in skill and in character. We can't wait to cheer them on this season.
